I don't really trust anyone to work on my cars unless it's absolutely necessary, I do as much as possible myself. But I have had Specialty Motor Werkes, 5325 Springboro Pike, Dayton, OH 45439, 937-293-1188 evacuate and recharge my 944S AC twice, and I've let them re-charge the AC on my Highlander once, and replace the rear end on the Highlander as well.
Honest review in brief:
I took my 944S in there only because I don't have recovery equipment, and they were recommended by two friends. And the owner is a Porsche guy. I took the belly pan and the alternator hose off before I took it in, just to be safe. The results of the re-charge were not spectacular either time. Not necessarily their fault though. In fact, I'm gearing up right now to do a bunch of AC work, but this time they will only be recovering the R134a, and I've bought everything I need to flush, evacuate, and re-charge the system properly.
When they worked on the Highlander's AC the results were excellent, but they left one or both (don't remember which) caps off the service ports ; it was/they were left sitting on top of the blower housing.
When I brought my Highlander in with nasty rear end noise, they said it was shot, with metal shavings in the oil. They replaced it with a used unit and offered a 2 year warranty on it. When I picked it up, it was making the same noise. I brought it back, and was told that that sound was a wheel bearing. They replaced it for no charge. The noise, which was identical to the bad rear end sound, completely disappeared after they "replaced the wheel bearing" (no charge). I'm not saying one thing or another, either way. You be the judge on that one. The Highlander is still running great and towing trailers 3 years later. They also gave me the old rear end, but I haven't taken it apart yet to assess the damage for myself.

Thanks Ian,
I’m actually in Dayton so I know of that shop, I’ve never been there. It always made me nervous with all the cars sitting around outside. Do you do your own timing belt job? The reviews seem okay I guess but I’m still going to keep to keep looking.
What color is your 944? Do you go to cars and coffee?

No, I've never gone to a cars&coffee, but I'll probably start doing stuff like that after a paint job planned for next year. The car is Zermatt Silver.
I do all my own work. The front of engine stuff including the timing belt is pretty easy if you have the tools and equipment, and a place to work on the car. There's lots of good info here and on the web, now is the perfect time to study all that before you get the car. There's also some detailed stuff in my blog, take a look.
