New oil leak but an issue with resolution

Well a new leak has manifested itself. Dripping from behind the distributor mount on front of camshaft. Pulled it apart and the only thing out of sorts was a bit of the old Mylar seal still back there (with the new one.

See this video and please offer any thoughts -

If the leak is coming from behind the cam pulley housing, I would expect either the rear o ring or the oil bore seal between the cam box and cam pulley housing to be at fault, not the camshaft snout seals.
Do not use the radial seal that does not fit the seal race tightly.

Haha! Wish I was that kind of DR…I just work in the education field so not quite to that level!!!!!

I’ve been out of town this week so nothing really new to report. I did put everything back together before leaving but I decided to check and also retighten the rear cam cover seal bolts as well (they were loose), I am sure another problem waiting to happen.

I should be back at it on Saturday and will report back.

Well success - I hope I did not just jinx myself! I think I have finally wrestled all the oil leaks down. So glad for that. Also got the idle pretty smooth. Now that it is running on all 4 smoothly I was able to reset the idle settings and now am finally getting a kPA where it seems about "right" based on what I have read.

So I am attaching the latest datalog file for maybe some ideas on where to go next. I would like to drive it around the neighborhood, but note the tip in just off idle is all over the place. Also, coolant temp seems to gradually increase as I would expect and the fans turn on at the correct specified temp, but the temp starts to really climb rapidly at that point. Almost as if the fans have no effect. When I first tested them they seemed to hold the temp fine once they turned on (remember this is all basically at idle).

Thanks as always for the look and advice!

What file format is that? My windows computers can't figure out how to open it. Glad all is moving in the right direction though. For tip-in, I have no idea if this is 'correct' advice or not, but when I was working on the tip-in on my car, I gave up on tuning by the numbers and went entirely by how it felt when driving.

I am not sure why that was there (it was a zip folder). The files open up in Mega Log Viewer for those that use TunerStudio.

But....Carpokes won't let me post just the single .mlg file...

Ok - I believe the coolant system just needed to be re-bled and it will be fine.

So back to tuning now

Ah, I see. I unzipped it and got to the original file, but I don't have Mega Log Viewer to see the data. Sounds like you are heading in the right direction though!!

This thread was about a particular oil leak.
For posterity; was that resolved and what was the resolve?
