My 992RS had a recall to reinstall the front and rear glass as well as reprogram the airbags. It is very tricky to remove the rear glass with the huge wing and the glass chipped. New glass was ordered and all done in a couple of weeks, However the tech noticed a very small oil leak from the sump.

This is a very non-trivial, engine out deal and requires special tools from Porsche that the dealer had to order from Zuffenhausen. Tools have arrived and ETA will be around June 10.

I told them to take the time they need as the car is shipping out to Germany mid-August for some events and my usual Nürburgring trip and I want to properly test it to make sure nothing is wrong.

Wow, that is indeed a very non-trivial amount of work! Will they fix the motor locally or just replace it and ship it back to Germany to study? Sorry this happened, but glad they spotted it and are taking care of it!

Will be done locally unless there is a serious issue; the special tools required to work on it have arrived from Germany.
There have been some incidents around the world of improperly torqued sump bolts and also some crushed gaskets. Obviously they will replace the engine if they find something serous like on some of the 991GTs.

I have an excellent dealer and they do service Carrera GTS for example that require periodic engine- out services.

Well, all sorted. Some minor recall and update stuff but the culprit was a cracked oil bath gasket. A few of these have shown up and apparently were inappropriately torqued. Anyway, all good now -picked car up yesterday:

Wow, that's something. Glad it's back together and better than new. You have to wonder how that can even happen? Curious is the 'oil pan' is plastic on that car like it is on my turbo? Or is all of that moot with the dry sump? (And don't get me started on the "integrated dry sump" marketing hooey.)

Not sure of materials -will ask dealer.
