More work done. Rebuilt the power steering pump and took her for her first long drive. 2+ hours to get a body man to look it over and for a quote on the paint work. The quote was great and he had an opening and wanted to work my project in. So, the car was dropped off for paint today and I am very excited to see how it turns out. I was not expecting to start paint work this early, but everything fell into place. Below are photos of how she looks dropped at the paint shop. My son and I spent several days stripping it down.

Driving the car down the highway half stripped (lights and bumpers were on) caused a lot of strange looks from fellow motorists.

My hat's off to you for entering into this project with your son. The bonding, the learning exercise, the ultimate joy and pride resulting from a hands-on 944 project will surely be a positive and lasting life lesson for him.
I hope you will continue to document your project on Carpokes, and not hesitate to reach out for assistance whenever scratching your (or his) head. Do you have the factory workshop manuals?
Perhaps you've already addressed this, but teach your son the importance of proper fastener torque. You might set up a fixture with 6, 8 and 10mm fasteners and have him first use a torque wrench, then practice matching the proper torque with a wrench and a ratchet. This lesson will serve him well when performing a quick repair or adding an accessory.
All indications are that it's going to be a beautiful 944!

Thank you @michaelmount123, unfortunately I don’t have the fsm. It is something I would love to purchase one day. I am working off of experience and an old Haynes manual (far from great). Fortunately I have owned my Turbo for over 21 years and have done a ton of work to it.
It has been a fun project thus far. I have not set up a jig with torque setting either. That’s a fantastic idea though and something I will probably do in the future. I will 100% try to keep this thread up to date and will definitely ask questions if I run into issues.

@notny41, are you referring to the ding strips down the side of the car? If so, I am not 100% sure if they are going back on or not. If they don’t, I will let you know. I want them on, but my family is saying no.
Thank you for the kind encouragement. We are excited about it. It’s worth saving this one to me, may not make financial sense but that is ok.

Yes, those are the things I am talking about.
I love the white with black fuchs. I love the fact that something nice (that didn't get much appreciation lately) is now getting its well-deserved attention. I love the fact that you are able to do some bonding and instruction with your kids and that they are interested in the project too! It's all very cool! Seems like it makes great sense to me! Can't wait to see it all put back together and you guys enjoying it!
I am right now in the middle of refinishing a set of 951 fuchs wheels. I haven't quite decided if they will go on the white one or the red one. After seeing your car, I might be leaning towards the white...

Thank you so much for the kind words. I am very partial to the white with black fuchs as well. My turbo is black with black fuchs and I love that look too, however the white just pops. I am very excited to see it cleaned up with fresh paint and the wheels refinished. I look forward to seeing some pics of your turbo with the fuchs mounted.
