So I plugged the sound tube last week, and during the process I found there are some key steps missing in most online tutorial on taking out the engine cover of a 718 Spyder.

If you want to take a look at your engine here are some tips:

First I watched this video to get an general idea

To remove black carpet covering the stock foam like heat/sound blocking material, there are 2 tabs that you need to remove in order to pull the "carpet" out. You can see them when the top is half open and is located around the red circle area in the photo. Behind the flexible plastic thingy. Be sure to have a trim removal tool

Then you need to remove the black "bracket" in order to take out the heat/sound blocking foam

you need a "short" ratchet to access some of the screws located close to the firewall

The hardest part of the whole job is to put the black carpet back to place. Make sure to insert the front (firewall) side first. It took me more than an hour to put everything back together. it is also wise to move the roof up and down to see if you have the carpet inserted correctly. The whole job took me 2 hours, and I wonder how much time and effort Porsche engineer spent on covering the engine lol
