J boot

So I started taking stuff apart in order to prep for my wastegate and mbc install. Was plugging the j boot with a bolt and tightening a ring clamp around it when the rubber port broke.

I thought I read somewhere that the Lindsey J boot wasn’t the greatest quality, but forget where I read that.

So do I go with the Lindsey boot or an OEM one?

Believe it or not, URO makes an aftermarket version of the turbo J-boot you can get under $100 if you shop around. Here is is at AutoHausAZ for $83:

A new factory j-boot is silly expensive -- nearly $400. And a used one likely will be dried out and ready to crack apart like your old one. I have a LR j-boot. They cost twice that of the URO unit, almost. It's 'fine" but not the nicest custom silicon part I've owned. I think their claim to fame is the fact that they sell them to fit big-mouthed turbos. If you just need the stock size, I'd say get the URO and save your money. Just my 2 cents....
