In the past I have made up strut tower braces and c-pillar braces now I am working on a castor block brace for my S2 , thought it might be worth sharing with the group .

Designed in CAD originally from some guessed dimension. This week i had the mounts printed in nylon to see if my guesses were accurate enough.

It appears to be a success. There is a minor reduction in ground clearance but being just behind the front wheels it shouldn't be much of an issue. Bar will be a 20mm tube with weld on threaded inserts. Mounts to be made of 5mm bent steel plate and replaces the washers under the bolt to maintain thread engagement into the car .

Any progress?

Yes , have had the first prototype mount made up to test position .
Redesign with same mounting locations for a machined aluminum mount . Gained production quotes.
Weld in threaded tube bungs made .

Awaiting items to come in for center bar at the moment.

That brace project is looking great.. If you are planning to sell them I would definitely be interested in one or two for my 968's. If they fit an S2 they should fit the 968 too.

Considering what it's mounted on to, I wonder if it needs to be this strong?

Would be able to check fitment on a 968 locally.
That mount would be made from 6061 so a bit beefier to take any hits or deal with deflection.

The castor mounts are bolted to a couple of captive nuts, that are a PITA to access. So if if I was fabbing that up, I'd be looking for it to deflect, rather than dislodging the nuts.
