What size hammer do I need to slide this down?

Cayenne intercooler?

Custom, as in the title. It took time to have it made but it should fit pretty well. I will still have to trim the front cross brace though as this thickness was recommended for the headroom needed. I hope this isn't too much of a pedantic post sucking the joy out of everything, to quote someone.

Will you use the intercooler as part of the cross-brace structural replacements? I saw a full custom intercooler like that once, where the cross-brace was removed and replaced with braces that bolted to the side of a beefy intercooler. No joy sucked by the way, or I'm missing the inside joke. In any event, all joy can be restored by reporting back once it's in.

Removing the cross brace completely is a no-no. A friend did this to fit an even larger IC and welded back a pair of strenghtening tubes between the side members, but I would rather not do that, not just because of structural integrity but also because the cross brace has a triangular section shaped so that the air flowing in through the lower area of the front bumper flows upwards to reach the upper area of the radiator. A ratio has to be respected between the area of the openings in the bumper and the area of the core so that air flow slows down, does not "stall" and actually flows through the core rather than around it. The design of the ducting for the factory IC gives a clue already. Obviously some new ducting will have to be made to force air through the core, starting from both the lower and upper inlets in the bumper. This will wait until I have some time though, as I have been mostly helping older folks sort out their classic cars lately, which have been off the road for several years (3 decades for one) and must drive now because the owners are getting really old with health issues...

Not much, sorry. The intercooler moved from my place to the boot and I found inadvertently on the other board photos of the cross brace being partly cut, which has given me ideas on how to trim it down to the minimum extent. I do not feel too comfortable cutting into it so I want to take the time to figure out the best way to do it. Also still quite busy sorting out friends' cars. I have driven the car only 30 min since my Summer tour...
