Factory Oil Sender Wire Routing

When the 951 was shipped from the factory, does anyone know the original route taken by the oil sender cable? See pics below of my car, where the cable routes up between the filter and the water pump. Is that factory correct? It's been that way for years, and causes no problems, but as always I have ulterior motives.

Anyone know?

I cannot remember exactly but I am pretty sure that both rubber boots on the sender should point downwards and that the wiring should not go along the oil filter like on your pictures. I think the wiring goes along the front of the head then goes down "before" the oil lines to the oil cooler, somehow.

Hey Tom, I just checked the one I have up on the lift. These pictures aren't the clearest and please forgive the grunginess of the bottom front of my engine....

just to the right of the oil pressure sender you can see the wire going thru a plastic clip and across the bottom engine (behind the timing belt cover)

yucky, blurry picture of it going thru the plastic clip

This picture shows that the plastic clip snaps into some sort of sheet metal hanger

In this picture, it looks like the wire goes across the front of the engine behind the timing belt covers
That's about all I can get to from below.

^^ Yes, I am pretty sure this is the correct factory routing.

Thanks for those pictures! I vaguely remember that when I took the original motor out many years ago. Wonder if I even have that clip on the new motor -- kind of doubt it, but I'll at least get it routed away from the filter.
