Hi All. Hope everyone is having a nice holiday season!

The wiper lever on my S2 had been acting up for a while... like a return spring broke? I was able to use the wipers OK but the lever felt like it had very little resistance to movement from one position to the other. Now today when I attempted to go for a drive, the lever just "flops" around up and down with no resistance... and it just kinda hangs there.

Any way to fix this or is it time for a new multifunction switch?

Sorry about that. I'm wondering if the part @usury has been developing would fix it?

Ohhh, the wiper side of the switch...

It works similarly to the turn signal side. My **guess** is the spring loaded nose of the wiper stalk base, or the nylon part it registers with, have worn or broke somehow. That side of the combo switch does not have a return spring.

I'll edit to link to a "what's inside" post I made regarding the combo switch. That should give you some ideas what I'm referring to.

Thanks for the info and the link to the inner workings of the Combo Switch. While that certainly does look like "fun" to tear into it, I decided to try and purchase a new one.

Per the PET, P/N 928-613-313-00-01C is correct for a switch with Cruise and w/o Headlight Washer. Checking at Delaware and Sunset Porsche Parts... both indicated that P/N has been superseded by MSU001457 (weird P/N), which is discontinued. Gaudin says the 928 P/N is OK (and their price was good), but since Delaware and Sunset indicated otherwise, I searched and found one at Pelican Parts. Pelican indicated they were genuine Porsche and they had two available. I ended up purchasing both ($$$), so I have a spare for the 951 in case it decides to bite the dust too.

Oh the joy of owning 30 plus year old cars Glad I have one new one in the stable.

PS - the switch in Usury's what's inside link is a bit different than those in the later cars, as those don't have the top two corners clipped. The front metal faceplate is rectangular with four threaded holes for the screws that attach the plastic cover on airbag equipped cars. Neither of my cars has the airbag wheel installed since I'm running the 968 CS steering wheels, so I do use the little horn contact, like the one shown.

PPS - as it turns out the two switches I received are P/N 928-613-313-01-01C, which is listed in the PET as a 968 part, so I don't see why the 00-01C part wasn't superseded that that number. Looking this up at Delaware Porsche Parts shows it's available and $75 less per switch than Pelican. Argh!
