Suspension bushings

Hi. I read a statement recently to the effect that suspension bushings on these cars are going to be hardened due to age, and that a bushings refresh will do wonders for ride quality. Can somebody explain exactly what this process is? Are the bushings separate parts or are they associated with tie rods and such. (I'd assume the latter.) Conversely, how much steering resoonse is lost with the new-found compliance? Finally, what would be the $$ range to do this? I'm not interested in a suspension upgrade, only to refresh the stock M030 set up.
Cheers
