Let’s hear it! What do you do when you’re taking delivery?

Nothing special for me, although I did put a scrap of painters tape on my 991tts when I drove it home, so it would be rock-chip-free when the PPF guy wrapped the car. On my 992, I discovered Tracwrap and Track Armour and did the same thing. That stuff blends in way better, so I made less of a spectacle of myself driving home in the 992. All jokes aside, it's super helpful to bring a friend along who is into these cars, so he can calmly go over the car and look for issues etc. while you are inside doing the paper work and fending off blinker fluid contracts.... I can highly recommend @Crazy Eddie for that job, since he was solely responsible for this.....

Great idea to bring a friend… I wish I had someone like that to go over the car methodically and without emotion. Among all my buds, I’m the most ocd and critical about my cars, and on a scale of 1-10 I’d rate my experience about a 4 compared with y’all!

I take no 'credit' for that painter's tape job. I was in the dealership doing paperwork and paying for the car, etc. and I came out 45 minutes later to see Ed rolling around on his back in the parking lot taping the bottom of the front wings.... Hard to find friends so willing to take one for the team like that.

I bet if you asked around you could find a Porsche nut to tag along and help. I met Ed over 20 years ago when he wanted to tag along for a 951 dyno run....

Given that it was about 11 months from down payment to delivery, I had plenty of time to make sure I was covering all my bases. Lots of test drives. Lots of interaction on line.
By the time the car came I was ready. I knew how it operated, what all the buttons did, and exactly what add ons from the dealer I wanted.
Winter mats—no. I got Tuxmats instead.
Winter wheels—nope. I got OEM ones used for only one season at half the dealer price.
Clear blinkers , yes.
PPF, tint, and Cquartz— well I got a fair deal from dealer that would be ready right away.

Even the payment details I had pre-planned out!

I’m still in break in mode, so no redline for me just yet. Gotta get used to the clutch shift points, the shifter gating, the throttle response…you know how it is.
