Start/Stop and Cylinder Deactivation

I have a 2022 GTS 4.0 that came with cylinder deactivation. Anyone use this "feature"? I have visions of the old Cadillac 4-6-8 engine that failed miserably.

I didn't even realize that was available or an option on any Porsche!
The saying is true, for me anyway, that I learn several new somethings every day. (Of course, I forget much of it within a few hours...

Apparently it does happen under light (steady cruising) conditions. A friend with a Cayman GTS 4.0 says it deactivates all 3 cylinders on one bank. Can be noticed by a marked change in engine sound.
The feature is not active in Sport or Sport Plus, or (apparently) if the Auto-Start/Stop button is lit (Off). A good reason to code the A-S/S to remember last state.

I had my car coded to remember the last Auto-Stop / Start state which is OFF

I understand the coding fix. Right now, the car is under warranty and I don't want to give the dealer any reason to void it. And since I usually drive in sport mode, it's not an issue. Next week I am leaving for a week's trip. On a trip/interstate I normally go to original mode but with start/stop/cylinder deactivation off. I was wondering if using cylinder deactivation works in this use case without screwing something up.

There's another option, without having to code the car, is getting one of these memory models to remember your console settings. It works really well.

Unfortunately the knob version has been out of stock for as long as I've been checking.
