Indicator light for oil on dash reads but does not fill; dipstick shows full!

Hi!

New to the forum and first-time post. I’m a PCA local member from San Diego and asked around but no replies yet. I went to C&C Sunday in Balboa Park and didn’t get any answers there either!

Issue: about 1 month ago, I had a recent battery, serpentine, and alternator replacement that went fine. But, after these repairs, I’ve noticed at typical startup, when my “oil indicator” shows on my dash instrument cluster, I see the “up and down” amber indicator action but the “bars do not fill” (oil indicator) as usual. Odd!

I went to my dip stick! The oil dipstick reads FULL. Is this an oil sensor issue or something else? My car starts fine, and runs great and after each drive, the oil level indicator is fine (dip stick reading).

I drive a 2003 Speed Yellow Boxster, 2.7L. 89k precious we’ll appreciated miles!

Thanks for any feedback and support!

Best, Joe

Hi Joe and welcome to Carpokes! I cannot answer your question but hopefully someone will have an idea and can chime in.
