This week's short and sweet "Never Stop Driving" article from the the incomparable Larry Webster of Hagerty Media is a testament to the fact that all is not lost to those who love automobiles and who strive to keep them running and on the road.

This is an incredibly positive bit of news:

I know that I sound like a broken record, but Hagerty and especially Hagerty Media is doing an incredible job supporting and ensuring that our beloved car culture remains viable.

Anyone can subscribe to many articles produced by Hagerty Media including Larry Webster's interesting, uplifting and insightful missives.

Great article!
McPherson College is a must for kids coming out of high school. They learn a skill, and can go into business for themselves, have an ongoing hobby where you'll learn even more and have fun doing it, as well as contribute to society.

I wish I had an opportunity like this back in the 70's, instead I was learning pharmaceuticals on the streets!

Back in 2005 or so, I hired an assistant whse manager to help with managing the night crew in an automotive Parts Distribution Center. He was 27yrs old, and I was shocked a year later when working on one of our forklifts (changing battery) that he did not know the difference between a standard screwdriver and a Phillips screwdriver, or what a pair of pliers was!
I needed to ask this question during the hiring process...what is a Phillips screwdriver? Is Channel Lock a brand or a tool etc.
This is the problem our society is currently facing, not enough Skilled learned people out there...I wonder how many kids now days can even take apart a bicycle or work on a lawn mower.
However, I bet of kids have street pharmaceutical smarts, or how to drive a car in a video...what is scary, they think they can apply this to the real world...they learn a little, and think they know everything!
Darn kids....Get Off My Lawn!! LOL!

Thank you for the response Slowpoke. There are countless stories out there like the one you encountered at your warehouse, so all of us have got to keep spreading the word. Not enough good deeds happening like the one at McPherson College and DEFINITELY not enough schools teaching what needs to be taught to provide the opportunity for their young students to survive and thrive in the today's world. Great post!
