I took my '22 Cayman GTS 4.0 to the local dealer yesterday regarding the A/C not always cooling when it is asked to, and mentioned to them that the PCM went dark a couple of weeks ago, then came back after re-start. They told me that they found codes for the cooling fans and for the antennae. They reprogrammed the DME for the A/C issue, and stated that they want to replace the antennae, as they think that may be the reason why the PCM went dark. I asked if the headliner will have to come out to replace the antennae and they said yes. Not what I wanted to hear. I will report back on whether these issues were remedied. While there, I got to see a Cayman GT4RS and a 911GT3RS that were breathtaking.

The PCM on my 992 did something similar. It would go all orange and monotone and occasionally the A/C on/off button would disappear from the climate control screen. After trying to reprogram, etc., they eventually replaced the whole PCM unit and the problem has not returned. Your PCM is different for sure, but I mention it in case software and antennas don't do the trick.

p.s., I believe the headliner comes out as one big rigid unit, so not as big a deal as it might sound. It's just a part to remove and replace -- not like any upholstery work or gluing or tensioning is needed like in the days of yore. :)

Tom, I hope you are right about the headliner, but my previous '14 Cayman S required replacement twice, and it did involve upholstery and glue.

Yeah, I'm no expert on 718 headliners for sure. I've seen other caymans with saggy headliners where the whole thing comes out as a 'part'. This eBay ad would make it seem similar on the 718, though I can't really say for sure what's involved in getting re-installed.

Wow! I guess they changed it for the 718's. That gives me hope, and thank you Tom!
