Hoping someone can school me on door handles. On my late 944, (1987) it has metal Porsche script door handles. One is broken, other isn’t great. I’ve read a VW Golf plastic handle works, but something about the lever being offset doesn’t work. What is the solution here? Would like to install both sides with the cheaper VW parts. Can the correct bracket / actuator lever be sourced?
Also my passenger handle is metal and not Porsche script. Not sure where it came from. Does not have the grain insert of the older 944’s either. Thanks!
Door handle debacle

There are others, but that one had some good engagement and comments.
Good luck

Did you know that Rennlist blocks all links to Carpokes? I've considered reciprocating but didn't think that was in the best interests of the community in cases like this -- since, ultimately, it's about getting people the help they need. That's their call if they want to act like that, but thought I'd point it out in case it helps shed light on where folks would rather spend their time...Zirconocene wrote: Fri May 05, 2023 10:31 am Have you seen this post?: https://rennlist.com/forums/924-931-944 ... 944-a.html

Interesting to say the least, but not in a good way.. And not in the Porsche spirit of sharing and helping at all..Tom wrote: Fri May 05, 2023 11:09 am Did you know that Rennlist blocks all links to Carpokes? @Tom : It's a real pain, what RL does with links to Carpokes and it's not without some amount of agita that I link to them from here, for what that's worth. I appreciate the ethos here much more, and your efforts to build this community in the way that you have. That's all a way of saying that I'd understand if you took the same stance.
OP, sorry for the O/T, but in the spirit of things, if you can make this parts swap work, it would be great if you could post something about how it went, and maybe some pictures, to help continue building the knowledge base on this site.
Cheers

No worries at all. I'm sure that link was helpful to the OP and that's why we are all here. I only mentioned it because I never know who is and is not aware of that site's shenanigans and why, in my opinion, the community is better of in the long run embracing a member-first community like Carpokes. Long live Carpokes!
My hope is Macman45 gets it all sorted out and posts a great DIY here on Carpokes!
Now back to your regularly scheduled program.
Yeah it’s possible. I had to slightly (10-15 thous maybe) shave a tab on the lock barrel housing, might not have been necessary I just wanted it exact, as well as transfer over the linkage rod assembly (Golf and 944 are very different here) and lastly the door must be a ton thicker on the VW cuz I had to shim the hook with a 3D printed washer of sorts. Works good. I’ll post a few pics later

Why don't you just visit "Plyhammersparts.com" and get a replacement . Then you won't have to mess around with modifying anything. I have used them many times and found them to be most helpful AND reasonably priced.
