At what mileage should you change spark plugs on a 987 Cayman?

The number I've seen is 60k miles, but I don't think that's any kind of an official number.

Not sure about 987's but for 718's it's every 30k or 3-years, whichever comes first.

Hello everybody - I am new to carpokes but wanted tag onto this thread with a question before starting a new thread. I have a 2015 Cayman S. It is time for me to replace the plugs, is this something that a reasonably adept DIY'r can accomplish? I have already changed oil & filter, cabin & air filters without any problems. However, from what I've seen on youtube it looks like the spark plugs could be a little tricky to get to.

I do have a Quickjack (which works great for oil changes), will this be of help for the plugs.

Great forum by the way!

@Bama : It's super easy, but will require wheel removal, and a couple of the wheel well liner panels. Once you do that, the coils will be right in front of you and accessible. The only slightly tricky thing is the plug closest to the firewall, but it's not a big problem and you'll figure out what kind of space you have to work with quickly.

Hi Bama! Welcome to Carpokes - great to have you here!!

Someone will be able to answer your question - there are a number of qualified individuals around, several of whom will chime in at some point soon. (If not, I'll give a shout-out! to a few of them! :D )

edit: Never mind - help has already arrived!

Thank you. I would just hate to start the project and become disheartened. Removing wheel and liner panels should be a task I can handle.

what is best place to get torque settings? I think the coil bolts are 14 ft/lb, not sure for plug.

Uh, I don't think those little bolts are that much. You should probably get a manual with all the torque values.
The Bentley manual says 30nM or 22 ft-lbs for the spark plugs. I'll bet the coils are about 7 fl-lbs but it doesn't give that value.

I found an on-line manual, ignition coil to cylinder head 7.5 ft/lb (10 Nm), spark plugs @ second tightening 19 ft/lb (25Nm). At the risk of a dumb question, "second tightening" would mean subsequent plug replacement from new?
