Early build 991.2 Water Pump Issues
Hello, I am thinking of purchasing a used 991.2 GTS build in October 2017, but sold in January 2018. I have read so many forums about water pump issues. Is this problem overblown? I tend to do a lot of road trips and sure do not want to get stuck in the middle of nowhere with a blown water pump. If I buy this car, is there anything to do or way to drive to prevent this from happening? ( no the water pump has not been replaced in this car I am hoping to buy).
It is a known problem with the 991.2's, as I had the same issue with mine. I believe Porsche is covering the problem on all 991.2's affected by this even if there is no failure of the pump whether it's under warranty or not. I would call your local dealer and let them know you're considering buying this GTS with original water pump and would like assurance if/when it starts leaking, you can get a replacement. On my '18 4S, my water pump did not fail, but I noticed dried coolant (white residue) on the muffler, which is directly underneath the water pump. I called my dealer, they replaced, no problem. Hope this helps!!Monaco wrote: Wed Feb 22, 2023 9:50 pm Hello, I am thinking of purchasing a used 991.2 GTS build in October 2017, but sold in January 2018.
