That’s a great comparison. It’s only about 2 feet wider if my screen measuring thumb is accurate.

Heavily doctored photo that's not to scale, for sure. While not accurate, it still tells a story.

Found a few preliminary quick-search specs and a new Carrera GTS is in fact 14.6" longer and 9.5" wider but the height of the 992 is actually 1.1" lower. However, the weight difference is huge at 2,381 for the '64 911 vs 3,399 for the 992 GTS.

Maybe the pic was meant to be a graphic reference and allegory to how heavy modern cars of all makes have become.

Here is my 82 SC at the left, compared to a 992 at the right. The 992 is a spaceship, LOL.

I was at my friend’s house with my 718 GTS. It was significantly larger than his 993.

Found these pics (C&D) of a 1964 901 and a 2020 911 - two gorgeous cars.

Cars are so much bigger. When I had a 993, I could reach over to the passenger door and open it from the driver seat, with no leaning in the drivers seat. From the 993, I went to a 997 and it was larger. Then I went to a 991 and when I got in the car it was apparent just how much bigger over the 997 it was. The smaller cars are far more toss able on track and find them more fun in that respect.

The Porsche 911 has evolved. I've had to as well.

As much as I like my former 1969 Porsche 911T, it's a slow car. Porsche moved forward for 50 years for the newest one which I own.

The older small bumper long hood cars are still very awesome cars. You can smell the gas from the Weber carbs when you crank the 180 Hp flat six engine. My last longhood was a 1973 Porsche 911 with modified PMO carbs which were easy to tune.
