Northern California Storms

Can't remember getting this much rain in a very long time! This is across the street from my house.   It took out power and comcast all night. Picture doesn't really do it justice in terms of size -- this was a massive oak tree.

We have a back-up generator for the house, but this was the first time the comcast internet went out for an extended period since we installed the Starlink and set it up to automatically take over when the cable is down. It worked amazingly well and was plenty fast enough for Netflix, web surfing, etc. I had to keep checking to see when the system switched back to Comcast because I honestly couldn't tell the difference without running a speedtest. Go Starlink!

Yikes, that is a massive oak tree. I hope there are no large trees near the garage.

Living in rural Wisconsin, Starlink took over from cellular as our primary internet this summer. We are quite pleased with the speed and reliability.

We lost a couple of large trees the summer before last in a microburst. My Milwaukee M18 chainsaw proved itself in the event, and made me think there might be a future for electric cars after all

I have a friend in Burlingame and he insists “it’s just a little rain”. Maybe he needs to get out of the house. Or maybe not!

Stay safe, and dry.

Yeah, Starlink has worked better than advertised so far. We are at the edge of the Comcast service, so it goes down fairly often here, sadly. For that reason, I like having redundant internet, especially with Starlink being so independent and working even after all the wires are literally ripped off the poles outside our house. (Credit Generac for the electrical power....). That said, Starlink does just fine as a primary internet for us. I'm tempted to ditch the Comcast even, but like the redundancy and don't want to give up some of the sports networks on xfinity.

We are at the base of the foothills, so tend to get more rain than Burlingame, but similar things are happening there too....
