I'm the original owner of a 1999 996. I have a four spoke steering wheel and clear headlight (no yolk in the egg).
I haven't seen any other 99 996 like this. Is mine unique, or am I mistaken that it is?

I am the original owner of a 99 996 Cab and I have the clear headlights and the four spoke wheel as well. the four spoke wheel was a base wheel and the three spoke was an upgrade. I believe the "yolk" came out in 2000. Maybe someone with some expert knowledge could chime in on that subject.

When wanting to research almost any car, I turn to the "Auction Results" section of Bringatrailer. A quick search on "1999 911" shows several with the amber turn signal bottom part of the headlamps, and several with clear housings. Searching on "2000 911" shows them all with clear housings.
So my conclusion would be the opposite of this - that the early 996 cars had the partly amber housing, and somewhere through the 1999MY Porsche switched to all clear. And then of course to the revised shape in 2001.
