I was reading an article on a nice 1975 Porsche 911 "outlaw" car. It is really well done (I've owned 4 longhoods) and won a trophy at a WERKS Reunion.

I thought the author's name was familiar? I then noticed it again in the magazine's "On the Grid" section. It was Tom, the founder of this site. It seems that it's the second time that he was highlighted in the Grid section (the last time was in 2016). It also mentions his work on this site.

Congratulations! We know a famous published Porsche guy. Good job.

Just saying. The last famous guy that I knew was Hurley Haywood.

Hurley and Brumous Porsche sponsored many vintage races back in my day. I was at best behind him (mostly well behind him). He is a really nice guy as is Tom.

My friend raced with Hurley in IMSA and knew him very well back in the day. They were both from IL, often palling around at various tracks. Denny was racing GTO class and Hurley was in GTU - lots of competition in the straights vs turns! Denny has tons of stories from those race days.

A reminder that there's a shout-out to our Carpokes founder Tom in the "On The Grid" section on p12 of the new December 2022 issue of Panorama magazine. There's a picture of him too! Also, there's another mention about Carpokes from the magazine's editors which is great!

Panorama is the best (imo) of any marque-specific car club magazine that has ever existed. Lots of good stuff: great articles, excellent photographs, tons of information, a superb listing of Porsche cars & SUVs for sale by members, the highest quality paper and print production out there, and more. Heck, even the ads are good!

For those who have not joined PCA, I'd suggest that the magazine alone is worth the price of membership, even though there is much more offered by Porsche Club of America. We've got to stay banded together to ensure future generations get to enjoy the freedom and fun of driving. The magnificent engineering of today's automotive landscape has never been more impressive and Porsche is the best from my slightly biased POV.

Thanks Gentlemen. We advertise in Panorama in part because the members are such great people and such great Porsche enthusiasts. The PCA does a really good job of creating a welcoming and civil membership, and those qualities are very high priorities for Carpokes!

Finally received my Pano, way to go Tom!! Don't know where you find all the time for everything you are doing. Or maybe I need to retire to refocus my efforts.

Thanks for the heads-up, I missed that on my first perusal of Pano. Great blurb on you, Tom, and great publicity for Carpokes. I'm glad to put a face to your persona , not a bad looking guy.

Thanks guys. I was lucky to be able to 'retire' in my mid-50's. Hard to just turn off the work switch after three decades of high-stress 60+ hour weeks. I loved my work, but am now getting to do all the things I didn't have time for in the past. I'm loving it so much, I'd do all this without pay (oh wait....). Bill, my old boss/mentor was fond of the expression: "Even a blind hog finds an acorn once in a while." Same concepts applies to selfies if you take enough of them...
