Hello All,

I will be replacing the front spoiler, it is chipped up from parking concrete blocks. Does anyone have any experience with a kit that fits well? I have heard a few stories about not fitting smoothly or too long. I have looked at Pelican and Patrick Motorsports.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Steve

Do you mean the black rubber lip like I have on my 82 SC ? If so, they fit usually pretty good.

Carmagic,
Very nice Porsche. Did the front spoiler lip come from Pelican Parts?

No, it was already on the car when I got it. But I installed a used one like this on a 87 Carrera and there was no fitment issue.

Sure - BTDT on a few pf mine through the years... A couple of suggestions:

1) Buy an OEM front spoiler - the after market front chin spoilers sometimes fit, sometimes not...?

2) Be sure that the front valance mounting lip is straight and true. If it's bent, it's a whole world of hurt trying to get the OEM spoiler to fit correctly

3) But the OEM mounting kit - Brackets, bolts. spacers, nuts, washers - as the after market kits substitute bolts and brackets, that sometimes fit - like the bolts are just a bit short....

Finally - it's a pretty easy install. Jack up the front end and use a couple of car jacks and go for it. Once under there, it will all make sense on "what goes where"...

Hope this helps - and a wonderful Christmas and Holiday Season to ya'!

Thanks everyone! The OEM suggestion is good, I will be going that route. I have sprayed the bolts a few times in the past.
When I get my AH 3000 off of the lift I will start on the spoiler project. Pelican sells an OEM one that I will look at.

I just replaced one on my 1985 911 Cabriolet. I bought the cheapest one I could find off eBay since I know I'll probably have to replace it again in the next couple of years (as my car is a true driver). The only issue I had was with the hardware. I had to grind down the white plastic dogbone that goes on either end and the threads on the bolt-plates they supplied didn't go all the way to the top, so the loss of the 1/8" at the top of the bolt didn't allow the nut to catch the thread. I ended up rust treating/repairing and using the old bolt-plates. Other than that, the spoiler was a perfect fit.

Thanks MickyD58,
Nice to hear that a fabricator was able to get it right!
Good job.
