I'm sure some of you are in the same boat or are at least familiar with all of the challenges with getting a new Porsche right now. It just seems to be the most convoluted chess match, with delays and frustration every-step-of-the-way. First off, you win the lottery if you're able to secure an allocation. Generally, it requires calling all over the place, putting down deposits, perhaps committing to sizeable ADMs, and doing a rain dance. If you succeed, you're only on the path to more obstacles, variables, and additional frustration. Upon getting your order entered, Porsche sends you the seemingly fun application, “Track Your Dream”. Except that fun soon turns to incredible ambiguity, confusion, and more frustration. Your initial “ETA” for delivery of your Porsche is about as accurate as a news report in the Onion. Supply chain delays due to COVID, the great resignation, the Russia/Ukraine war, port strikes, etc…will stretch it out months past the initial date. On top of that, you might have things pulled from your build after it’s been locked. If that isn’t enough, you get to watch interest rates soar while you sit and wait. Yes, it might make sense to pay cash at this point.
Perhaps these are small issues in a world full of more important concerns. But it sure changes the Porsche buying experience from being the “dream” that’s listed to an exercise in frustration and patience. Let’s hope the reward is worth it.

My process looks like this:
- Deposit Paid (MSRP Pricing)
- Demand Order Entered by Porsche Centre
- Demand Order acknowledged by Porsche Canada
- I wait patiently for an allocation
- Porsche Centre updates me regularly
US market seems the worst from my reading. Dealers with too much power, no restrictions or consequences for bad behaviour. Their day will come though, the current model will have to change eventually.
