With the Taycan being so quiet, I have begun to notice a subtle low-pitched buffeting when traveling at highway speeds (>55mph). I have driven two different Taycan 4S and with similar observations.

Factors that I’m thinking that may be contributing to this are:
  • Electric charge port doors
  • Mission E wheels
  • Happens in all drive modes
The two Taycans differ in brakes (PSCB vs PCCB) so brakes are likely ruled out. Both cars should be more quiet due to having the noise insulated thermal glass. I was wondering if anyone else has noticed something similar with their build and could provide additional data points. Thanks!

With the windows up?

The 911 and Cayman are known for this with the windows down, prompting a cottage industry making anti-buffeting wings...

Yes, with the windows up. The effect / sound is subtle and while I describe it as buffeting, it may be turbulence that is causing a similar sound. Good call on the wings… I would guess that there might be some similarities with the 911 (believe the mirror assembly is mostly identical to the 992). I might do some experimentation there to see if that helps.

Worth a try, but on my old 991 and now 992, I don't get that buffeting unless the windows are down. You can experiment with painters tape over suspected whistle-makers.... I've done that with success in the past.

Thanks! I’ll give those a try.
