This thread makes me nervous. My car looks pretty rust free but if this seemingly perfect car had rust in all those places, eep! Don't want to think about the hidden rust on mine.

I started on the GT3 Muffler install.
First I removed the rear bumper to get better access.

Next I removing the engine support and converting the 3.6 engine from triple crank pulley to single pulley, to make more space for the GT3 muffler.

The 993 heat exchanger will be replaced with new header with heat.

I had the make a new special tool to hold the pulley to torque the bolt. When the engine was out of the car and no transmission, I could lock the crank shaft at the flywheel. But now I need something to hold the pulley while torquing the bolt.

This is an early engine console. I will need different studs. Some are the short and some are to long.

More to come
Cheers

I installed the new crank pulley and the engine console, and test fitted the GT3 muffler. The lower section of the rear bumper need to be modified.

I cut out the center section. Too bad that I cannot use the section with the cooling slots. I really liked the look.

I made a new fiberglass piece.

Here already added to the bumper.

I had to modify the rear engine tin section as well, so the muffler could move up about 30mm.

Here final test fit with the lower bumper section in rough finish.

Since I want to have a working heating system in this car, I started on the components and making mounting brackets for the blower fan in the engine bay.

I had a good Carrera blower fan in my parts stash and it will be used for that.

It will be mounted a bit different as it was in the 3.2 Carrera. I made a custom bracket for that. At this time I leave the option open if I just use fresh air or also connect a hose from the engine cooling air to the blower.

Here is the fan before disassembling and inspection.

The fan worked perfect and was also in good condition, just needed some cleaning and refinishing. Here are some pictures.

Powder coated the muffler support and the fan mounting hardware.

I made a adapter where the hose will connect to the blower with the 3D printer.

Also made a new wiring harness for the blower. It will be connected to heater levers at the hand brake, so the blower will start when the lever is pulled.

To be continued

The inherent build quality of the original parts is so fine. To then see the results of your refurbs is indeed magic. Wow!

Awesome work -- love you updates. Very inspiring! Random question, on that blower harness you made, where do you source that black plastic sheath on the harness? I've been in search of something just like that, and can't find it at my usual places... Or is that wire just a sheath-covered cable that comes that way?
