Cool! Yea, interesting an external pump was used over an internal.
Yes, looking back I don't think I truly appreciated how unique an opportunity it was. Was exposed to SO many cool things there and had the opportunity to work alongside a super talented and experienced mechanic. Can't put a value on experiences like that.

No, they're not 935. My (educated) guess is they are Fabcar pieces fabricated in house. Fabcar would fabricate these since they didn't have Porsche's resources to cast uprights out of aluminum like on the 935 front corners.
The uprights in the pics were fabricated in house at Fabcar back in the day. I'll say that somewhere down the line the "pie plates/hose inlet" were added by a team.
Dave K was an expert fabricator, and sheet metal uprights for such a low volume car made sense. I probably cut a lot the pieces for those uprights, I think we made a batch of five car sets initially.
Thanks for the pics, I haven't seen one of these cars in years! I'm going to have to try to catch you guys racing these things soon.

GTR bellhousing. There's lots of engineering and bespoke pieces in this car. Hats off to Dave Klem!

I don't have the issue so I had no idea!!! I knew you had written for them (000) and also about the same type of cars but didn't know it was you who wrote that particular piece. Very nice!

Our own Tom wrote the article in 000 about the 944GTR. Beautifully written, full of obscure info, and killer photos!

So they were built for different series'? Greg said the ED car was made for use in the IMSA GTO class. instead of Trans Am Racing.

Yes, the Electrodyne GTR is the only GTO. Electrodyne had been running a 934 in GTO, but it was becoming less competitive. Chet Vincentz worked out a deal with Holbert to get a GTR for GTO.
