You’ll get there. It just takes a lot of scrubbing. Aluminum cleans up quite well with some elbow grease.

Thank you so much for the compliment. I just figured I would show what yours will look like.

Anything special needed to plate the hose clamps?

Eddie, your engine bay is incredible!!!

As for the hose clamps, nothing special. The clamps with the rubber inserts like the cruise clamp and the one around the ac hoses, just remove the rubber.

Pulled the oil pan finally And making its 1st appearance - the #2 rod bearing. The PO had them replaced 50k miles ago and the work order said .25 over, so should I just go with that when I order new ones?
Gylco OK?

Yikes! What does the crank look like? If still smooth (?) you should mic it to make sure you know the size. Was the crank turned down and, if so, was it re-hardened? Maybe it's just the picture but it looks like a lot of wear for 50k miles... 2.5L cranks are plentiful and cheap so if yours has been turned down and is chewing up bearings, it would be relatively easy at this point in your tear-down to replace it with a standard crank in good condition.

Wow, yeah - that's kinda wild looking!

I'd measure as much as possible. Definitely figure out where the crank's at. Presumably (!) no one's bored out the big ends.

Anyway, I see no reason to put Glycos back in. Minimally, imo, figure out if you need undersize or not, then get the corresponding ACL bearings (base p/n 4B2475H, X suffix means +1 thou, -010 means 0.25mm/10 thou undersize). (is 4B2475HX the same as 4B2475H-001? I don't know, but probably. You'll note the catalog doesn't list a 4B2475HX-001.)

As an aside: I know these haven't been around so long, but I'd love to see some longevity info from anyone using the ACLs.

Will add new pics. The bearing and crank felt smooth. Will pull the rest of the bearings tomorrow.
There was machine shop work done on the crank by the PO during the rebuild.
Looks like these rod bearings came from a Porsche lower engine set. Wasn’t planning to put these back but asking if glycos hold up ok.
