Need a solution to fix the speedometer.
The new gear is installed, the sender unit is working fine( replaced with a tested one) yet the speedometer is not working.
What gives?

Hmmm... could just be that the speedometer itself has failed. Plenty of electronic parts that can fail inside, not to mention the delicate needle mechanism. Sometimes they can stick on 0 too. Might try flicking the needle to move it off 0 and/or driving faster to put more pressure on it to unstick. if that does nothing, then I would be inclined to try a known good speedometer in order to rule out everything else.

The resin printer version is a tad cleaner, but I have no doubt this would work just fine for a long time. To the extent I previously said you need a resin printer, I have to take that back after seeing this. :)

Thanks OP! I just ran a print on PLA (all I have) and I don't think it will hold up. Do you have any extra pre-printed gears laying around you wouldn't mind tossing in a business envelope?

I do. I ran a set in fiberglass-reinforced resin, and tested them on the bench for like 30-40k miles. They are a smidge too thick for a paper envelope, so cost about $4 to ship in the US. PM me if you'd like one. Typical home 3D printers have a hard time with this much fine detail, but it 'can' be done as shown above. You need a smaller nozzle and a printer that's fully dialed in... That said, unless the car is in a climate that always cold, PLA will warp and fail in a closed car on even a moderately warm day. PETG stands a chance in moderate climates, and ABS will hold up in just about any climate.

Can anyone confirm that this gear is the same as the US 928 180 mph odo gear?

Thanks

No first hand experience, but many websites offer the same 20/21 gear for the US-spec 928 and 944, so I'd say there's a very strong chance it's one and the same. Until you pull if apart, however, it's hard to know for sure (even on a 944).
