Interesting. After watching the video I don't think mine is broken, I never turned it more than maybe 10 degrees or so, and the receptacle for the harness plug was always on top where I mated the two. Never say never, but I highly doubt this us my problem. It or a blown fuse do, however, seem the most likely explanations for the problem. It's hot in my garage so I've been in the pool thinking of anything but my steering wheel problem. ( OK, I'll admit I did give it a thought or two). I'm going back to fiddle with it some more.

I'd still test the clock spring for continuity. If it was just one or two functions, then maybe fuses, but what are the odds of blowing the fuses to every system on the wheel? There's a trick for easily checking the airbag connector on the clock spring, which seems too easy not to try....

Hey Tom, we're you suggesting that I leave the battery disconnected overnight as a GOOD thing or a BAD thing? More time allowing things to possibly reset, or maybe something be lost by no power for such a long time?

I was thinking it's worth a try to leave the battery unhooked overnight.
I have no experience with the 718 clock spring. The only Porsche one I've seen had plastic clips that seemed to clip into the wheel, but I wouldn't try to speculate about yours. That said, I don't think you need to remove it as long as you can disconnect the connector on the back that has that the shorting spring do-hickey as shown in that video.....

The connections on the back require removing the steering wheel covers, top and bottom. I'll tackle that later.
