Count me in. By the fall I'll be in my new shop with a lift and ready to do my belts.

Any idea of how much you'll charge for the timing belt tool?
I don't think he is done with the design, so the machining and finishing costs are not quite known yet. Tom seems like he just wants this out there, but will have to take some margin for the inevitable issues (hopefully minor) that will crop up. Plus, besides the international fame and glory that will be behested upon him for this incredible triumph, he should be compensated for the effort put in. Tom, let me know what kind of beer you like.idealcheese wrote: Mon Jul 07, 2025 8:36 am Any idea of how much you'll charge for the timing belt tool?

Well said! It really is going to come down to the machine shop costs per unit, which will depend in part on how many I make at once. If I can't get them under $400 each, and ideally closer to $300, I worry I might get stuck with a lot of timing belt tools. As you say, it's not about making a big profit on these -- it's all about the international fame and glory944er wrote: Tue Jul 08, 2025 6:27 pmI don't think he is done with the design, so the machining and finishing costs are not quite known yet. Understood and makes total sense. Lower $300 range seems highly reasonable to me! And yes you'll be a hero in the 944 world.Tom wrote: Tue Jul 08, 2025 6:55 pmWell said! I would be highly interested in buying the tool if it is near your target range. I’d even be willing to help fund it via a kickstarter or deposit strategy. Maybe that would help with identifying serious buyers so you can hone in on an offering price.
