Yes, the Sport DME with OBD+ will eventually be the equivalent of a standalone system, but geared to the 944 and 944 Turbo, so it should be easier to tune. Ignition tuning is still in Beta but could be active in a couple of weeks if the work Joe did checks out with the specific tuner that requested this feature (more info in the major thread on RL).

Joe told me that the MAF kit could be available for beta testing around the end of the year, but we've heard that before, so one must have patience The OBD+ currently supports the 3 bar GM sensor, and AEM, Autometer, Innovate and PLX WBO2 sensors. I know Joe plans to use an AEM controller and design his own digital gauge, but in the meantime, you can display, graph, and data log the AFR and Lambda.

I believe there are plans to support things like sequential fuel injection, and possibly coil-on-plug ignition or wasted spark. All these features are/will be handled by the OBD+ module as it contains a modern 32-bit CPU compared to the 8-bit on the DME board.

Anyone can download and install the OBD+ software to check out the parameters monitored and available for viewing, graphing and data logging.

Will it operate as a true speed-density engine management system you mean -- i.e., fuel based essentially on manifold pressure, temps, rpm, and VE tables (no MAF or AFM)?

I don't know Tom, but it seems plausible if there's enough demand. We need to get Joe interested in monitoring this thread too. I sent him info some time ago about signing up, but I suppose he only has so much bandwidth to support as the F9T DME is also available for 1984-1989 911s.

Picked up a Sport DME with OBD! Cant wait for future updates!

Absolutely -- tell him we'll put up a free banner ad in the rotation on the front page if he joins and starts sharing a bit here. He'd be welcomed with open arms here, with no fear of crossing any nebulous sponsorship lines.... Perhaps a Carpokes group buy would even be in order.

I just got mine upgraded and installed, too! I have only done 1 log so far (it’s football season and I coach, so I have only driven once since I installed it) I wish that there was a guide that showed what all the values mean (I.e. what is normal, what is not).

FYI: the Ftech9 MAF system for the NA 944 just entered beta testing and Joe is looking for testers. Check the RL thread mentioned in the 1st post of this thread. Hopefully, the MAF for the 944 Turbo will follow soon.
