Those look factory-perfect, just like Porsche should have done. But your story confirms my fear of installing from the rear. I bought a set for my 991 Turbo S, not realizing the bumper can had to come off to install them, and never installed them as a result.

Is there any risk the dealer will void the warranty if anything heat related happens? I think he was just plain wrong, but had a track-going friend say he didn't want grills because they reduced air flow over the radiators....

In my case, the dealer said that Porsche is quite « open » in regards to mods on their cars without affecting warranty (of course, there’s a limit of what is permitted to do). For the grills, no worries based on the chief tech at the dealer I spoke to. The only thing is for the engine intake grills, you will lose some performance due to the restriction of air flow but not to a level where you will notice it while driving. It will be noticeable if you put the car on the dyno… there will be a small difference in performance. Your concern is valid and this is why I chose to have the grills installed by Porsche… they can’t blame anything on the grills now since they approved the installation. But to be honest, based on my conversation with the technician, many clients with new cars had service done to repair their exposed radiators (not covered by warranty) so I’m sure Porsche is aware and they can’t blame their clients to find aftermarket solutions to a problem they seem to ignore!

Hmmm... good thinking about having the dealer vouch for it by installing it.... Didn't think of that.

I saw an old Wheeler Dealer last night where Edd worked on a Caterham 7. They had a big grill in front, and they spray-painted in the '7' logo for a very suble but cool effect. I'm now thinking how to do something similar....

I decided to have a Porsche technician install it for me. Pulling the bumper out was key in order to preserve an OEM look. Also, if something broke during the process or an unexplained issue occured after, it would be covered by them. And boy, was I happy with my decision. The side intake trims are so hard to snap off I wouldn’t have gone so far in force myself. The Porsche technician broke two plastic pins on the trim during the removal. They will obviously replace the trim free of charge. Anyways, a bit more pricey than if it was done by myself but overall, it would have cost me an intake trim (maybe two-who knows?), many swear words trying to fit the grills from the front per RGS’s procedure and I would have never had that OEM look.

I too have finally decided to add grilles to my side vents, (2018 982 CS) but do not like the Zinsport sitting ‘outside’ the side vent, so was looking at gett8ng the RGS version on the ‘inside’ which looks far better - however!
I am damned if I can even get close to getting the side vents out. The vent is so close fitting it’s impossible to get a prise tool in - or is it? Maybe it needs a really good push in, anyone tried it?

ditto on the Zunsport front grill set for my '22 GTS 4.0

When you say the side vents, do you mean the engine air intake grills? Yes, those are very tight and you need to put painters tape to protect your paint. There’s three snap-in attachment clips so your pry tool needs to go in between them to pry each one out (very difficult to pull out without force). My Porsche tech broke a clip doing it and he really took precautions when pulling it out. This video can help:

Thanks wizz, yes the air intakes.
I’ve seen 3 vids inc the one you mention but the grill is so very snug!
It must have previously come out and been refitted because it went in for the recall on the internal modified grilles a couple of years ago.

I’ll look for a very thin prise tool and revisit - cheers.
