Hi All,

I'm in the Chicagoland area and recently picked up a project 1987 Porsche 944 Base NA 5spd. It sat in a Public Storage unit for the last 15 years and has 293k miles on the clock! The engine starts/runs/idles great but the clutch pedal was to the ground so I couldn't drive it. I offered the seller a few bucks and towed it home.

Since then, I have replaced the clutch master and slave cylinders with their hoses and bled the system. The clutch pedal now has pressure and bounces back up to position. One of the posts on the starter solenoid broke off when I removed it to access the slave cylinder, so I'm waiting on the replacement starter motor. I changed engine oil and filter as well as the transaxle fluid.

I need to change the timing belts which is what brought me to Carpokes. I was searching about tension tools and found that one was offered here.

I'm looking forward to finally changing those belts and getting this car on the road. I'm confident it will run just fine now and this will validate my project as worthy of continuation. Also looking forward to continuing my story on the forums.

Welcome aboard! The days of giving a few bucks for a 944 are quickly coming to an end, even for project cars, so good job finding one! If I may, I'd add under hood fuel lines to your must-do list. They get old and leak right onto the hot exhaust, with predictable results! It's the single most important thing to do on an old 944 in my book.
