Spent plenty of time in SE Michigan since I was in the automotive industry and nice to see a pilot who has a machine that is great at low level flying , ha. As a Grandpa myself , I hope to live up to the " Cool " standards he set up for you with my grandson.

Tough situation for sure but fantastic that the issues were addressable. Even better that it appears all will will end up ok in the end. Perseverance - a laudable trait, for sure.

Welcome to Carpokes David! Glad you found the site as there are many good people here.

My name is Michael McAlhaney and greetings from sunny Palm Springs, California!

I’m a new member to Carpokes and to the privileged group of Porsche owners, though I married into a Porsche family with my father-in-law having owned Porsches for over 50 years.

I’m a retired (Aug 2019) pharmaceutical Human Resources professional and my spouse and I lived in Manhattan (NYC) for 26/27 years before moving full-time in Dec 2023 to the desert for the fantastic weather, for the beauty of its mid-century modern architectural movement and for proximity to my in-laws, Palm Springs residents since the early 1960s.

Though I don’t have a complete list of the many Porsche’s my 88-year old father-in-law has owned over the years, a personal favorite that’s still in the family and has been passed down to the eldest son is a tangerine colored 1969 912 in mint condition with over 200K miles - see photo below. That son also owns two Cayennes and a black on black 2010 911 Carrera 4S Cabriolet. I’ve included a photo of it as well, parked next to the white 2002 Boxster my father-in-law still drives and which will eventually be passed down to us.

Having lived in Manhattan for over 2.5 decades with no need for a personal vehicle, we had the very exciting task of car shopping when we arrived in Palm Springs. However, buying Porsche’s was not a forgone conclusion and we test drove everything that interested us. It felt like pure kismet when we unexpectedly drove home over the next few months with not one, but two gleaming and certified pre-owned Porsches.

My spouse bought a beautiful 2020 Macan S in “Mahogany Metallic” and I bought a head-turning 2020 Panamera in “Gentian Blue Metallic” with “Chalk” interior, a car I’ve become so smitten with in the past two years that I’m now confident I’ll be part of the Porsche family for life. See pictures below.

Thanks for allowing me to gush over my late in life obsession with the brand and I look forward to learning all Carpokes has to offer!

Awesome into Michael -- what a collection of cars your family has had. The tangerine 912 is pretty special. Is that original paint? Tangerine is a cult classic color and my favorite of them all. I'd get that as a PTS color on a new Porsche without hesitation if only Porsche would do it....

Hi Tom,
“Tangerine” is the 912’s original color but I know a fresh coat was applied a few years ago when it underwent a pretty substantial renovation. Thanks for the welcome and kind words!
