I own up to being this person. Thom kindly took time out of his day to take me for a drive out of Paris and showcase his fantastic 944t 16v turbo. Wow, what an absolute rocket it is!! I haven't been in a faster road car ever. Spinning the rears easily in 3rd gear had me gripping the seat and arm rest as best i could. I'm not sure how fast we went but we got there very quickly. When you sit in the passenger seat on the opposite side that you're accustomed to things feel even faster than when driving yourself. Thom offered me to drive it too however my travel insurance didn't cover me and the thought of something going wrong was too much to risk. The car seems to have minimal lag and quickly gets going at any right foot urging. With the longer 6th cog it makes a fantastic cruising GT. With the other gears it shows 99% of other cars it's tail-lights!
Thanks again Thom for a great morning. Certainly provided me with some impetus to get mine going again too.
That's awesome! A visit to Europe from afar, the fantastic ride in a fantastic car, the Carpokes connection. Nice!![]()

Why not but would even the beefier version in this family of clutches handle the torque of the engine for sure? I would prefer to keep complication to the lowest level and stick to the current hardware and particularly the TTV flywheel with the 60-2 triggering.nick_968 wrote: Sun Nov 17, 2024 9:56 am Thom, as you have the 968 gearbox, could you not switch to the 968 bell housing, then allowing you to take your pick of the 964/ 993 clutches including the turbo version?
Anyway the slipping issue may be caused by a combination of not readjusting the rod between the pedal and the master cylinder right after fitting the strut tower reinforcement bracket and a slave cylinder that is now consistenly leaking. Manoeuvring the car today suggests that the clutch still "works", but more progress on all this after I will have replaced the slave cylinder.

Thanks Nick. We did speak of you when Thom and I caught up. It was actually ages ago when I was passenger in your well driven 993. I think circa 2008 perhaps. Time does indeed fly!nick_968 wrote: Sun Nov 17, 2024 10:00 am...and Thom isn't even that old...Patrick didn't seem that old either the last time he was in the passenger seat of one of my cars...although it might have been a while ago now! This is all beginning to sound like an old farts' recollection party...
... Was it in 1875 or 1877 that I was under Nick's 968 to bleed the clutch, enjoying UK's finest wet pavement?
I'm glad the clutch slave finally gave up the ghost. Honestly I didn't expect it to last that long with a KEP 2. Gives me something to look forward to with the 951 as even if the other toys are a breath of fresh air there is just something special wrenching with this car, like perhaps framing yourself to a similar mindset as making love to your aging better half as if you had met her just a few weeks ago. And the fun/satisfaction is just the same.

Trying to finish up the latest track car, widebody light weight with a 3.1 drysumped 8v…but I bought a McLaren this spring and it’s serious fun. It gives me an entirely new target for tuning. The traction control is amazing. Haven’t even fired up the 968 16v turbo…..Thom wrote: Sat Nov 23, 2024 12:08 pm What have you been up to lately Mr. White? You have been suspiciously quiet of late.

McLaren sounds like serious stuff, did you go for a 570S, 650S or 720S?
I wouldn't consider one only because of the poor soundtrack and I have been indulging myself with Italian material just for this reason, even with the significant performance downgrade compared with the 3l 16v engine in the 951. There is a point past which efficency becomes plain boring and ruins what sports cars are all about, imo at least.
