Instead of taking the plugs out, I think you can accomplish the same thing by just pulling the DME relay. Or is there another reason for pulling the plugs?
Spins faster...
eaisly twice as fast and does not put any compression load on the bearings. pull hte fuel pump fuse so you are not washing down the cylinder walls

I don’t have any fuel in the gas tank, so the car obviously isn’t going to start until I put some in there. Do I still need to pull, or jumper the DME ? So far I have just been trying to build oil pressure by cranking the engine, unfortunately I haven’t had any luck with that yet. I’m going to try all the tricks I’ve read about and hope one of them work. But once I get pressure I’m hoping to fill the gas tank and fire up. If no start - maybe then I need to jumper the DME ?
Yes, I was thinking once you have oil pressure and are ready to have fuel in the system, then pressurise the fuel system using the jumper method. That way you can deal with any fuel leaks without the engine running, i.e. isolate the fuel system from everything else to check it. Once any leaks are fixed then move on to starting the engine.

Good luck building oil pressure. I'd be interested to hear what tricks work or don't as I may shortly be in the same situation.

The other trick for the really obnoxious engines is to apply a little air pressure to the dip stick tube – don’t get carried away, 10-20 psi max.

Quick update - I have oil pressure ! Sure enough, I pulled the plugs and like magic, there it was. Still not starting though... I put a few gallons of gas in and tried to start it a bunch - no luck. Wore the battery down, so I have it on the charger now. At this point just keep trying right ?

Are you getting tach bounce? Most common issues are dme relay going bad and second most common is speed and ref sensors. If no tach bounce try wiggling the speed and ref wires.

As stated, check the basics, fuel pressure, spark, and injector pulse.

Ok, will do, thanks ! I made the jumper for the DME, so I will try that tomorrow and move on from there. Thanks again everyone.
