Just bumping this thread, rather than creating a new one. My car has been running very hot (a steady 100C if I trust the dme temp sensor), so I am replacing the thermostat, as well as the temp sensors to DME and gauge (recently did fan thermoswitch so that should be good).
While the thermostat snap ring removal is just as much of a pain as everyone says, none of the info I found online before the job mentioned replacing the inner thermostat seal (951-106-155-00), which was pretty mangled in my case and I'm pretty sure was my issue. It's $6 from pelican (or $18 oem), so worth ordering with your other parts so you don't have to wait another week and ship a $6 part to finish the job like me.
