A MAF will fail the visual part of the test -- in other words, as soon as the tech opens you hood, he's obligated to fail you. Neither are smog legal, however, without a CARB-approval number like the old APE chips had.

I have TunerPro and wanted to look at the stock ignition timing maps for my S2 but havent found a good source. The only thing I found was some tunerpro files on the old RogueTuning website, but I am not sure if those are actually the OEM maps or if they have been modified in some way.

Appreciate any insight.
The 86 maps came straight off the chips in my car. The 88S and 89 I've had for years. Those are all really representative samples. For your car, the best source would be the chips in your own car. I'm sure there are factory images posted (maybe even in my "looking for BIN files" thread), but Porsche/Bosch changed things from time to time, so the pulling the image off your own chips would be the only way to know for sure what you have.

Hello Tom,

Thank you for sharing for this awesome info.

I’m very keen on trying to get a 3D MAP option for the FULL THROTTLE portion of the DME programme.

I see there are companies offering it but I was wondering if you are able to unlock this function in the DME. Obviously I know this is related to the MAF conversion and as such other supporting mods are required.

From my research having the ability to tune the WOT map relative to MAP makes all the difference to the drive ability.

Any thoughts?

This is fantastic stuff Tom!
Once I have all the mechanical items sorted I may have to give this a shot.

Tom,
Great info. The timing is impeccable as I was just thinking about getting performance chips for my stock turbo. I went so far as to take the cover off of the DME to confirm it is a 24 pin chip. The DME had never been opened, which made me a little sad.

Tom, I'm not sure if this question is easy to answer or not but, what is in the Carpokes Performance XDF/Chip and/or how does is compare to the Rogue A-Tune?

The performance chip image I included is quite simple. It just over-rides the overboost protection and adds a little fuel to wide-open throttle. It's akin to the traditional 'chips' sold by Max Performance, Fabspeed, Weltmeister, etc. (sans the price tag). They all let you run more boost, which is where most of the extra power is made. I included those images primarily as a launch pad for people who want to tune their own chip to the needs of their own car. Off-the-shelf chips are one-size-fits-all, so the real benefit to all this is the ability to tune the chip to your particular car.

As I understand it, the A-tune is a whole different kettle of fish. It uses a custom chip board, map sensor, re-written code, etc. @Rogue_Ant has been online lately, so maybe he'll chip in (no pun intended). I was always curious if it used the map sensor to increase how much air could be measured, since that is one of the primary limitations of AFM-equipped cars...

I have the A-Tune currently, along with other mods, and I would like to upgrade my injectors to 650 cc/min Bosch. So, if I understand this correctly, I should be able to just add them to the A-Tune program with Moates Ostrich using Tuner Pro RT, right?

Hopefully Josh chips in. It was my understanding a-tune could be tuned, but not with the files I recently posted. I'm also not sure how the Ostrich would work, since it plugs into the socket where the a-tune chip goes, but I thought it did work somehow. Maybe @944m3 can offer some insights too, as he has an a-tune for sale right now.

I am using these Bosch EV14 injectors, 62 lbs, from FiveOmotorsports, and they've been fantastic. It's surprisingly hard to find true EV14's with the junior timer connectors.
