So I inspected the check valves and everything seems to be good. I decided to tape up the severed vacuum line that goes to the valve in the footwell I was talking about earlier and the issue is fixed! Looking back it’s pretty obvious that the line was causing the issue, but now I know. Are there any better replacements than the hard oem line? I was thinking about silicone hose like the one I have from LR in the engine bay, but the valve gets connected via the outside diameter of the hard line and that wouldn’t work.

I sure do! That valve is now zip tied closed so I’m not getting any air coming through the heater

You could always use a short (like 1") section of the hard line to adapt the silicone to the valve.

It looks like the plastic barb broke off and is still stuck in the hose, no?

Yes, it’s still stuck in the hose. Alongside replacing the vacuum unit I was wondering if there were any more durable replacements for the hard and brittle plastic lines?

That’s not a bad idea, I might end up doing that
