My wife wanted the hybrid because she will be able to do most of her driving on electric mode. I think that for cars at this price point, it's not about economy or ROI, it's about what you want to play with. But, we had the same discussions. We were able to spend an hour in a S e-Hybrid. I didn't notice anything with the brake pedal. But in electric mode, the wife commented that when it stops it stops. No coasting. My biggest concern was the seats. My big ass has become very uncomfortable in her current Lexus RX350. I found the same issue testing driving a new RX Hybrid. The missus was underwhelmed. She found the inability to order exactly what you want from Lexus disappointing at this price level. She also was very impressed with the Cayenne's premium interior. All the tech in the car and on the dash is very appealing. I'll probably be yelling at the dash....
She as an allocation. Porsche has given her the production milestones. The two of us and our salesman have gone over the configuration with the proverbial fine tooth comb. She has until December 10th to make changes. She is finding that this ordering/customization is very exciting.
So, news at 11
I really enjoy the process of configuring and ordering a Porsche. Heresy to say this, I know, but the hunt is almost as much fun as the car. Lol (OK - not really, but the building/ordering/expectation part IS a hoot, assuming one can get an allocation!)
On a side note, did you ever get your Coco floor mat samples and/or order a set?
Financial advisor was feeling generous. Coco mats have been ordered/

Congrats and hats off to the FA!!
In light of that, I may pull the trigger on a set. I've had a tab open to the Coco window ever since you mentioned them but hadn't taken the next step.

Update. My wife got her allocation when he handed her credit card for the deposit. Funny, I waited seven months for my allocation to come up. Yesterday she got a note that production of her car has been pulled forward two weeks.

Wife's Cayenne e-Hybrid is on the ship. Hopefully it will make it through immigration....

I echo RonaTD’s comments. We have a ‘25 S e-hybrid with about 3k miles. Our 5th Cayenne. I put in a level 2 charger….3.5 hrs from 5 mi E range to 50. I get about 40 miles actual E range in cool temps. Tows my aluminum car trailer easily. Always plenty of power. Brakes good, little vague.

I picked up my new 2024 plug-in E-hybrid at the end of June 2024. I have owned several Porsches over the past forty years and this is the first one in which I am ambivalent, at best. The driving experience is great and the handling is first-rate. The electronics have been problematic. I have over 12,000 miles on the vehicle with probably 60% highway and 40% local driving. I have not upgraded to a 220-volt charge port yet but I am able to charge overnight on a 110-volt outlet that generally gets me around 50 miles of E-range and 40 when it is cold.
By toggling around between fully electric to Auto Hybrid to fully ICE on a recent drive of 115 miles of about 60% open highway, 20% congested highway, and 20% local driving, I was able to achieve 39 mpg. Not bad...but it took a lot of paying attention to what I was doing. When I have done the same trip with similar conditions in fully auto hybrid mode, I can expect to get in the mid to high 20s mpg. I am not sure what I was expecting but I guess I was thinking that in fully auto hybrid mode it would have been a bit better. For simply doing errands and driving locally, the fully electric mode is very good and I am satisfied.
As far as the electronics go. I have twice had the car back at the dealer for work on the "computer" part of the car. My dashboard has lit up like a Christmas tree on several occasions with error codes, warning lights, etc. After the most recent visit, Porsche switched out the software and it has been much improved but I still have the occasional start-up of the vehicle when everything lights up as non-functional. It has never impacted the actual drive of the vehicle and many times by simply shutting the car down and re-starting, it will reboot and everything seems ok. The other major annoyance is that it will often not connect the Apple CarPlay feature with my phone. Really annoying and when going through the prompts to re-connect, more often than not it will declare that I must not have a compatible phone. It could be the next time that I get in the vehicle that it seamlessly connects, or it could be several days. I've tried logging out and re-logging in both through the vehicle and through my Bluetooth connection on the phone but at the end of the day it seems to do its own thing on its own time.
I have several other nitpicks that I won't mention here but I am surprised and disappointed that for a high-quality marque like Porsche and for what these vehicles cost when well trimmed out, somewhere along the line the company has not reached out to survey how the customer is doing and what they think about their new car. Yes, the dealer always wants to know if they are doing a good job but what about the manufacturer?
I had two Macan S's before this Cayenne. They both were GREAT SUVs that did everything exceptionally well. This vehicle is coming up short mostly due to the proliferation of electronics controlling so many aspects of the vehicle.
Also, as an aside; when originally thinking about a plug-in hybrid, my friendly Porsche salesman said "Salesman friends don't let friends BUY an electric or plug-in vehicle. You only lease them." I am very happy that I did not buy this vehicle as I know the technology for E-cars will only improve and do so quite quickly and hopefully, our infrastructure will improve where people like me don't have to struggle with range anxiety.

Great post - super informative and helpful for others.
From what I hear from many different and reliable sources is that what you outlined has, unfortunately, become par for the course for all (or almost all) vehicle manufacturers. The electronics and complexities are often extraordinarily buggy, seemingly operating with a mind of their own. (And saying they're buggy is too kind a description in many cases.)
As I see it, our over-reliance on buggy electronics and poorly written software is, to a certain extent anyway, a problem with all digital devices these days. One of my biggest pet peeves is the amount of wasted time spent trying to figure out and work through too many bugs and inexplicable glitches with the many devices and connections we are forced to deal with daily. It's become a never-ending and somewhat dreaded chore. Manufacturers are trying to work through these issues, but the sheer volume of troubles to sort out and patch is pushing the limits.
We've had three Cayennes - two Turbos and this latest 2024 S with its wonderful 4.0 V8. Even though not a hybrid, it's still like all new vehicles: a collection of digital brains on wheels, so we're all in the same boat - EV, PHEV, T-Hybrid, ICE, or whatever. In that vein, there is a major 7-hour-long software update campaign for our Cayenne. Fortunately, it's not affecting daily use and can wait until the first annual service which is due this Spring.
Maybe it's time for some good old analogue...
By the way, welcome to Carpokes!

One of the things that attracted me to my GTS 4.0 is the minimally technology facing me. The "infotainment" system SW is pretty useless. Like a Porsche manager's unemployed nephew that needed a summer job was tasked with designing it. The Panasonic head unit I installed in my 987.1 was quite a bit better.
My wife is attracted to the "technology" facing her in the Cayenne eHybrid. She used to be a SW quality manager. I'm not sure you can buy a new car nowadays and escape this technology.
And the ship has left Baltimore and should arrive in Jacksonville Thursday.

Exciting days ahead for you and your wife. All digital lamentations aside, Cayennes are excellent vehicles and they are still Porsches!
