As promised, pictures of my 86 Big Red brake upgrade. For those with a keen eye, the rotor in picture #3 is not installed on the wrong side, this is just one of my mock ups.
996TT Brake Upgrade For My 951 - BIG MONEY
Also I only mentioned the big items for this update, but there are smaller items that I added like painted stock rear calipers, Porsche brake proportioning valve to add more brake pressure at the rear, SS brake lines, Pagid blue brake pads machined to accept wear sensors, camber plates, strut brace, Elephant Racing tie rod drop adapters for bump steer, etc.

Has changing the proportioning valve made a noticeable difference to the rear brakes performance. That's a part I'm planning to fit, now that I'm using big reds and 955 discs on the front.Bill wrote: Mon Jul 29, 2024 1:59 pm And finally...on the road

Yes, with the added braking at the front it is needed to balance the braking front to rear so you don’t swap ends during hard braking.

Increasing the performance of the front brakes without fitting the modified proportioning valve, wont cause you to swap ends. You might lock up the front brakes though, that's why the modified valve lets the rear brakes do some more work.Bill wrote: Mon Jul 29, 2024 4:30 pm Yes, with the added braking at the front it is needed to balance the braking front to rear so you don’t swap ends during hard braking.

Whether the valve is needed or not depends on several things such as how hard you are braking, how fast you were going when braking, geometry settings, braking in a straight or in a curve, how much stuff you are carrying in the boot, etc... I drove a year with the stock valve and it was mostly "ok" but the balance is I think definitely better with the 5/33 valve.
Good job and nice-looking car. Love the Cup 2s, though I'm biased.
