My apologies for the typo graphical errors. I should have checked Siri before I sent this response.

astounded
Spyder

Etc.

I contacted Zunsport. Not only did they not have these guards for the 718 Spyder I was pretty much a standard they weren’t even aware that the spider with a different car in the GTS or any other model Boxster. Politely they told me if they had a donor car in the UK they would consider making the Shields.

I think just about everyone agrees they should be std eqpt. My zunsport fit perfectly - that said it’s weird that sometimes the fitment is great and other times it’s meh.

Maybe I’m wrong but I thought the GT4 and the Spyder already have front grills to protect radiators? The issue is related to the 718 GTS 4.0 and other models (including some 911) which are fully unprotected. That’s probably why Zunsport do not have a grill designed for the Spyder.

Well I went with rgs. They are a little time consuming to install. The center grill took the most time because your definitely having to bend it significantly for it to fit inside and then reshape. Feels relatively secure. I could not pop off the side intake panels for the life of me. I used tools and felt I was going to break the side intake body panel or dent the body. May have to take it to a pro.

Thank you for sharing. I received mine from RGS a couple of weeks ago but did not attempt to install yet (waiting for the winter days to warm up). Did you need to secure them with tie wraps or the snug fit is enough to hold them in place? For the side intakes, I’m also scared to pop them out… maybe someone on this forum would know a trick? Combination of heat gun/ice could maybe help the studs pop out with less force?

I have a 2010 987.2 Base Cayman and was looking at grills as well. Didn’t see anything I liked. I did clean out the grill openings and there was hardly any debris. Used a shop vac with a long crevice adapter and it reached way back in the corners and did a good job of sucking up any debris. I’ll probably do that on a regular maintenance routine. I had a 996 Cab that grill openings were really plugged. The p.o. never vacuumed there. I ended up removing the bumper to clean the radiators. Kind of a p.i.a to do. If anyone has a good ‘fix’ or recommendations for grills, I’d be interested.

Crazy Eddie came over today to change his oil on the lift, and I couldn't help but notice the tidy factory screens they put over the front radiators (981 GT4). So it's not like Porsche never thought about it....

@Tom Yes, Porsche provides screens for the GT4 but not for the other Caymans (well…probably the GT4 RS). I bought a full set from Zunsport for my GTS 4.0. They don’t fit perfect but look great if you don’t get up too close.😐

It’s finally done! RGS front grills and side engine intake grills are installed on my Boxster GTS 4.0. I am super happy with the look (Porsche should have delivered the car like this in the first place).

I decided to have a Porsche technician install it for me. Pulling the bumper out was key in order to preserve an OEM look. Also, if something broke during the process or an unexplained issue occured after, it would be covered by them. And boy, was I happy with my decision. The side intake trims are so hard to snap off I wouldn’t have gone so far in force myself. The Porsche technician broke two plastic pins on the trim during the removal. They will obviously replace the trim free of charge. Anyways, a bit more pricey than if it was done by myself but overall, it would have cost me an intake trim (maybe two-who knows?), many swear words trying to fit the grills from the front per RGS’s procedure and I would have never had that OEM look.
