I got the pipe in!!
Thanks for all the tips! I loosened everything (exhaust headers, turbo to xover bolts, wastegate nuts) and then used two clamps (https://www.timbecon.com.au/pony-jorgen ... heavy-duty) to pull the xover and exhaust header together.
I then could put in my alignment punch and then a screwdriver. With a bit of swearing and effort, I could get the first bolt in and then very quickly a second one and a third. After a break, I very swiftly could get the last 3 bolts in on the other side. Then I just tightened all the bolts of the xover to turbo side and wastegate. I'm happy as a clam!
