Keep the pictures coming. Each set reminds me why I don't paint cars myself. Easier to let the professionals do what they do best. Turns out I'm best at giving armchair "advice".

Guessing there's a room about 3x the size of the car, filled with the parts and pieces you removed. Lots of work as Tom mentioned, but really the best and only way to make the car new again.

Tom wrote: Fri Oct 22, 2021 2:53 pm Looking great! Tons of effort showing there in terms of taking things off/apart to avoid the cheap 'respray' look. This should look awesome when done! Did they remove the gas filler pipe!?!![]()
Yes he is very thorough so I am exited to see the end result, cant wait to assemble the car.
I put alot of hours into dismantling everything so it could get the new car look when it comes to the paint, especially since it had a colorchange in the 80:s.
Paying a professional to do the work I have done so far (lots more to come) would cost a small fortune I guess.
Regarding the gasfiller I just pushed the rubber bellow off the body to the inside of the rear fender. Then the painter just masked of the filler parts.

I drove back and forth to the shop several times with all the parts I had removed. Amazing how much space they all take up when off the car!
When he is finished with the paintjob I will fit the doors, hatch and hood at the shop to avoid transport damages.
Also, one of our rooms in the house is now filled with the interior of the car waiting on me to fix it up
Ok so the painter is finished with the main body of the car. He will now attend to all the other parts.
I hardly cant believe how good this turned out!
This Moccaschwartz pastell color is so "creamy" and deep it just cant be described with a picture but here comes a couple

Paint is looking fantastic. The final result is going to be a pretty special car! Did you see this one last week (and it's sales price!)?

Is the paint shop putting it all back together or is that something you will do yourself?

That color is stunning, especially with the cork interior. Kudos for all the great work so far.

Thank you gentlemen, I am very pleased with the result
Yes Tom I saw that sale, about time the 928 gets the love it deserves. Equally unique as the 911:s and definetely way ahead of its time.
Tom I am doing most of the work myself, would cost a fortune otherwise. I really do enjoy it alot and to be honest I am pretty certain I would not be satisfied with it if a shop did it, I can put so much more time and effort into each part, and I cant blame anyone else
This is the 3rd Porsche I restore and have done a couple of Saabs aswell. More to come when this is finished.
The shop will fit the windscreen and hatch glass and then I will bring the car home. I will go and get most of the body panels tomorrow.
Plan is to do the interior and glass first and then the body.
After that the car will get a big service and the engine a detailing. Looking forward to it and I estimate I will be finished in time for spring.
We now have 5 winter months ahead of us here in Sweden, great for time in the garage

Ok so assembling the car is moving slowly forward. It is alot about cleaning and checking everything that I going back on.
Some parts I change to new or better used if the original part can not be refurbished.
I am working from the back of the car and moving forward.
And YES those terrible tires will be changed!
