I made my interior happier. Way better hand feel than the stock piece. I've bought tons of door strap material, to try various ideas. Door straps are stupid-simple to make.

I recommend against $30 on Etsy when you can just ask me to mail you some.

If I really get this thing wired, I'll put together conversion kits for folks with regular handles who want RS-style straps. Rennline offers "the only kit on the market" for $375. I think one could DIY both doors for under $100.

EDIT: I'm abandoning the part about finding a cheap conversion solution. Earlier generations could be modded with available parts, but not the 718. I think the Rennline conversion kit is the only workable conversion solution. Sorry; but at least it's not terribly expensive at $375.

HOWEVER, I just came across a DIY that is applicable to the 718:

And once you've got straps, there's fun to be had! Don't waste money on crummy polypropylene straps from KaizenKups.

Nice. I love the pulls on the GT4 and I think it would be great if you decided to make these available to others as a viable alternative.

Simply open one photo in any given post and then use the left and right side arrows to view. The viewing is greatly enhanced for multiple pics but is also much better even if only one photo since the result is not only larger but also boasts a much cleaner disply. Great viewing!

This may only work on PCs/desktops. However, photos are best viewed in that environment anyway, so the upgrade is an awesome and welcomed improvement.

If you haven't tried it yet, give it a whirl on the superb Pikes Peaks photos from @Pachanga718.

To add to this PSA, if you're viewing on an Android phone you can simply tap and hold the image, then select "open image in new tab".
Next open the new tab and view the full sized image. (probably works very similar on apple as well).

Cheers

I'm trying to figure it out because somebody else said it could be done. I'm a little less confident than I was, but I still haven't seen photos of a non-memory interior door handle and shell. I'm sure straps can be mounted, but much less sure about getting all the trim right.

Meanwhile, I have shareable strap material for people who want to swap out their existing straps. I think more than a few will appreciate the especially soft fabric feel of the tie-dye webbing. The shiny semi-metallics have a satin feel, like top-quality seatbelts. The best color range I have right now is in lightweight webbing similar to stock but lower quality feel. I'd use it for a quick, fun dress-up, but probably would tire of it in my daily driven 718s.

Replaced the monoballs on my Tarett GT3 style control arms on the front of my Cayman. The original ones had developed some play. I am hoping this will not be a common issue however they were easy to replace.

I also did an oil change, I think I had 8 track days on the last oil change.

Changed my Cayman T's oil on a hot day, in a hot garage, with QuickJacks, wheel cribs, and a creeper.

Got heat exhaustion really fast, got sick. Spent an hour getting cooled down and hydrated. Made more progress; got sick again. Recovered. Repeated. Would not recommend.

At least it'll only cost me shipping charges to return the used oil change kit to FCP Euro for a free exchange. I've never done the exchange of oil. Any shipping recommendations? I'm hoping it'll fit in a USPS large flat rate box, but not confident. Only $22, if it fits, it ships.

5-hour oil change. I earned my saving on that one.

Yikes, hope you’re OK.
I have spent many weeks in Houston on business and felt for those working outside.

That's scary! We tend to forget how debilitating excessive heat can be. It gets tougher with age. I know being at the track in the summertime can be brutal. It will sap energy quickly. Glad you're ok.

Are you returning used oil? (I don't know anything about the FCP Euro process, so just guessing here.) If so, better check with USPS - I could be wrong, but I don't think you can ship petroleum products via postal mail. They have a massive list of hazardous materials that are prohibited from domestic shipping. (International is even more strict.)

When I buy oil and such from Amsoil, Summit, etc., it always comes UPS.

Yes, I'll have to check the regs on shipping. Probably UPS ground.
