I have been happy with the Only944 linkage. If the transmission is still in the car, you will need the stubby 11mm wrench to tighten up the nut on the lever arm with the slot. At least I did.

I am doing a new clutch, so dropped the tranny. Made the only944 linkage install a 20 minute procedure. Anxious to get it out on the track and give it a run.

I've been chasing a vibration problem on my S2 and a friend's 89 2.7 car that used to be mine.

Tom, any chance you have the nylon bushing part number noted somewhere? I cannot find it listed in any of the 5 PET pdf's I have.

Looks like I may have misinterpreted your post. I thought you were referring to the linkage on top of the transmission.

Stuttgart Motors used to have an Al option but they are long out of business it seems.

Of course only944 has a solution, albeit a short shift. I am only trying to tighten up the slop while maintaining the original characteristics.

I talked with Kyle over at only944 about the same issue just yesterday and decided to just replace it all. You don't have to use his short shift linkage if you don't want to. The OEM stuff is available ... and expensive

Yeah, the best I could find was $215.

What I want is sandwiched between both #21s. All you can buy is the #18 assembly.

Yes you can get that piece.
I bought a new nylon shift block like the one in the video above and it completely eliminated all freeplay in the shift linkage. In fact, the new shift block fits a little tight, I had to push and twist to install it on the pivot shafts. It loosened up after a few miles of stop-and-go driving.

FYI I got it from from PartWorks. de Just search for artikelnummer 1266. The kit also includes a little packet of grease, new hardware and extra shims to eliminate any freeplay.

No, you were right -- that's what I was talking about, I just misunderstood what you were looking for. I'm embarrassed to admit I STILL haven't installed those parts. Been chasing other noises lately, so as soon as this one becomes the most annoying, I'll put the new bushings in.
