In Safari, tap on the menu bar. Scroll down the list of options, then tap Add to Home Screen.(If you don’t see Add to Home Screen, you can add it. Scroll down to the bottom of the list, tap Edit Actions, then tap Add to Home Screen.)

Tada! Gone. Years ago I had a really badly rusted battery tray and I had to get some serious repair work done there. The guy did some kind of media blasting. I'm not sure what he used, but it looks like a lot of it accumulated behind the blower and eventually turned into that rust colour. But it also hardened into these solid chunks that perfectly mimic a rusty body. A couple of minutes of gentle scraping and vacuuming and it's as clean as a whistle.
Next question: any suggestions for what to use to replace the foam around the evaporator? It looks similar to the stuff used to seal the intercooler. Years ago I replaced that stuff with foam tape, but it would be tricker to do a clean job on this with the same tape. If anyone has done this before, I'd love to know what you used!
@Tom What was it that you were using when you were R&R’ing your heater box during your dash swap?
@dr bob loaned me some foam tape that was maybe 3 or 4mm thick. I used that to seal the flaps inside, and have most of it left-over -- so happy to forward that to the next Carpokean in need. On the outside of the box, i just used a home depot open-cell weather stripping foam 3/4' x 3/4"... I might be inclined to use something stronger for the blower box though -- i.e., a denser foam that would withstand that environment better.

Does that area get very hot? The stuff I linked to above is apparently good to 50 degrees C. But it's basically inside the cabin so I thought it should be ok.
