That’s funny, at least you should have an understanding wife if she is into horses. If you are in the Nc area, you are welcome to try mine out but it’s a turbo. A little bit of a different animal but similar charm.

As an engineer I love this comment. I remember some racer talking about how much they loved the 944 chassis, but it did feel like a dumbbell with all the weight over the axles. That's a good thing for most of us, as you mentioned.

The Cayman is an amazing car and a better race car, but I've heard at least one person say it's a little less communicative at the limit. I haven't driven a Cayman, but the 944 always lets you know exactly what it's doing, and it's so easy to drive at the limit and correct when you've exceeded the limit.

I pulled my spare tire out for weight savings a few years back. I've upgraded my suspension from stock NA to M030. When I put the spare back in for the trip to VIR, I was surprised to find the rear end feeling more planted, and I was able to get on the throttle sooner coming out of corners.

I wonder what the consensus is around here on the spare...in or out for handling?

I actively don't do anything to upset the stock weight distribution. That's the way Porsche intended it to be driven. So that's what I do. Soon I need to get it out to a local Auto-X and push it. I have yet to find the limit, so it would be nice to find it in a controlled environment. Not on winding TN mountain roads with ro rails and 100+ foot drop offs

Great summary! I’m excited to get to drive the Tail someday once I get my ‘88 951 back on the road.

Just the Fuchs 15s with some 215/60-15 Falken all season rubber. If you make it down this way feel free to say hello, I would definitely come join you for a cruise! The dragon is more of a novelty just to say you've done it. Don't get me wrong, it's a crazy fun road! The traffic, cops and the random idiots just takes away from the experience somewhat. There are all kinds of curvey mountain roads in the area with far less congestion to roll through too. With less policing

I put Yokohama A008P's on the original Club Sport wheels last summer (225/50-r16 & 245/45-r16).
I don't auto-x or DE, but they do very well for my spirited driving.

Good to hear! I was considering getting the A008P’s.

I have the original club sport wheels (just had them re-anodized - too nice to mount now !)

But I have a set of 17” turbo twist style wheels which are much easier to find tires for. Will keep the club sports to mount once I get the car cosmetically restored.

Those look great! I plan to have my Fuchs anodized at some point. Someone polished the lip and I don't like the look as much.

Where did you have them refurbished?

Mine were painted silver by the PO (very good job) but I'd like to have them returned to the original anodized finish.
